How correctly designated sex before?
Inappropriate speech in Russia often in the old days perplexed translators, because it did not allow to convey all the subtle and “special” nuances of a great and powerful language. Who does not know, I’ll clarify: in Russian there are more than a dozen words (a record worthy of being entered in the famous Book!) Abusively denoting sexual intercourse.
Nowadays, this whole verbally emotionally colored array has replaced a single word – to fuck. It does not belong to obscene, and therefore it is very widely used, although it sounds rude. It is not entirely clear how and under what circumstances the word came into circulation. Nevertheless, it is not deleted by the program for automatic correction of texts on websites; it appears freely in the media and in literature. Even in feature films on the theme of love, it sometimes sounds.
It is interesting, but how did the physical connection of a man and a woman correctly designate in our country? To answer this question, I had to conduct a whole philological study, thoroughly “rummaging” in history and in dusty archives!
It turned out that the word “sex” is not in any dictionary published before the middle of the last century. A paradox, but as they say, a fact. In principle, the reason is clear: in the USSR, as was once stated, there was allegedly no sex at all. And since it was not there, then why should the population interpret the meaning of the capitalist word, where was sex?
But let’s leave the irony. Soviet people figured out how to correctly designate the process of creating children and the situation when they were not planned, but M and M just wanted to enjoy orgasm.
Perhaps the most correct designation of intimacy was in the words “make love.” And this, of course , is not only kisses and hugs. The word “friend” was also used. At the same time, the letter “and” was emphasized by intonation so that it became clear what kind of friendship M and M were talking about. The word stood out in the word “live”, and this clearly understood intimacy in bed.
Of course, in different regions differently used the Russian language for sex. Local dialects allowed this to be done very widely. For example, if a man and a woman were not married, but cohabited, then it was usually said to mean sex: “He goes to her.” And everyone understood the purpose of the man walking. About a woman who hosted a man who came, had sex with him, they said: “She is confused with him.”
Very widely (even now) the word “sleep” was used (“She sleeps with him”, “He sleeps with her”). But here, of course, it was not so much about the dream itself, but about sex. If it was random, then they designated it with the word “to sleep” (“I slept with her”). In some cases, more “encrypted” in the designation of sex sounded “in a relationship” (“We are in a relationship”).
But back to the beginning of the article. Where and how to replace the swear words meaning sex, the word “fuck” came – I don’t know. In any case, I could not find out. But I do not like it. After all, the intimacy between a man and a woman implies, first of all, their emotional intimacy, which makes subsequent sex vivid for positive emotions. And you can fuck with a prostitute on a purely mechanical level. What kind of spiritual moment to speak about?
